Can someone please help me

I'm a 23-year old woman from Canada. I have suffered knee problems from 2 years now.. It all started spring 2015, I had had my baby November 2014 and started doing this exercise program in the spring. It included LOTS of squats which I did without wearing shoes. I have flat feet.. I started exercising really fast, and didnt do much stretching. The exercise program was really difficult and I was giving my everything and sometimes wasnt even able to finish, I had to give up. Soo... My knee got to the point I couldnt step on it. Before that I still kept moving, I did biking on a golf course that had very steep hills. I noticed that exercise was making it all worse so I stopped exercising.. This has been the hardest thing in my life, always been really active since I was a little girl and all the sudden I cant exercise. I have become depressed.. This is causing my many emotional problems. To this day, I have stiffness, swelliness, in both of my knees, it comes and goes, sometimes I have better days.. I wear a brace a alot, I have noticed that I dont get the worst swelliness if I have been wearing a brace. The fluid are mostly on top of my knee and on the outer upper side. I can also feel some pain there when my touch there. I have had ultrasounds and X-rays, only showinf fluids. I had one MRI for my left knee (that used to be worse but know my right is way worse) but the MRI just showed fluids. My dr thinks I have RA, but the blood work was negative, only ANA was positive (which is pretty normal, can easily be on a healthy person) My mom has RA on her fingers, thats why my dr thinks I have it too, but I totally feel like no one has really took care of me and see what really is wrong. I dont know what else to say.. this is always on my mind, every step I take i can feel like. Cant believe its been 2 years! I feel like no one understands me. Its been so so hard.. i hope someone has time and interest to read my post.. tell me your thoughts or if you have had similar symptoms! Thank you so much!

Many years ago, I had four (4) knee issues, two each side over the course of about 3 years.  X-rays and MRIs were ALL "inconclusive".  Found out that my results were not uncommon.  I had been playing hockey at that time for well over 40 years.

My ortho knew something was wrong but couldn't see it on the tests...so he scoped the knee...all four times.  Turned out each meniscus was shredded and I had ripped off both femoral condyle cartilages.  Four negative tests, four scopes, four repaired knee procedures.  Simple.

Go to a SPORTS orthopedist.  Find a group that works with your local college and/or professional sports teams.  They're the best for people who have been active in sports and now have problems.  You should NOT be living in pain.  Find the ROOT CAUSE and get it fixed!!!

Hello Katja - so sorry that you are having all these problems.  I cannot offer any practical help as I have no experience of RA or excess fluid on the knee, but just thought I would write and offer some sympathy to you.  I am a 73 year old lady living in the UK.  I have had both knees replaced over a two year period but this was due to simply OA and I am pleased to say that they were both successful and have improved my everyday life substantially.   I really do think that there is too much emphasis placed on 'formal' exercise these days, instead of just coping with everyday activities involved in living a normal, healthy life.   I am sure that you do not need to feel guilty or depressed about not being able to exercise as you once did.  Just sorry that I am not able to offer practical advice to you.  It does sound as if you need some sympathetic professional help.  In the meantime, I would just advise that you try to relax and do what you are able to cope with and enjoy the time with your young child.  I do hope that you have some family and friends to support and help you as well. Best wishes for the future, Katja.  This is a good site to visit to check out how people are coping with their own personal situations in recovering from knee problems and I am sure you will find some advice more relevant to your situation than I am able to offer.  Take care. x

1st and quickest...this appears to fall in the area of a sports injury and you should find a Dr or therapist with sports medicine credentials. These people have special training for dealing with this sort of thing.

As far as a brace....never wear one unless its approved by the medical people. They can create more problems than you can ever imagine. DIY is for home improvement, not medicine, especially ortho. Not to beat up on you but, over aggressive, unsupervised training is dangerous and trying to overcome it with over aggresive, unsupervised treatment is even more so.

Be patient, this is going to take awhile

Hi Katja, I'm sorry you've had such problems. Maybe you should ask for a 2nd opinion on this, fluid doesn't just drop out if the air & into your knee! There MUST be a logical reason for this happening to you. Perhaps there is an old injury, which hasn't healed properly??

I don't know, not being medically trained, I can't give an opinion!?

Just know you're not alone! We are all here for you.

I hope you can get some answers, & relief, soon. You are way too young to be having this trouble!! You should be having quality time with your small child.

Keep us updated.

Am sending big hugs 🤗 🤗🤗

Here I am writing again.

Thank for all the sweet comments.. I really appreciate your help. Here I am tears in my eyes writing while putting my baby to bed.

I saw a rheumatologist today.. he believed I would either have back arthritis or psoriatic arhritis. My back is stiff and sore in the morning (I do have really hard bed and I sleep beside my baby in awkard position often). I have has a small eczema on my elbow for a looong time. It does look like sproasis. But I have been googleing and have found same looking rashes that it could be also. Im waiting to hear the blood work results.. he wants me to go on some kind of medication but I feel like not every option has been thought of. What if the blood works are negative.. I quite often feel like life is too hard to bear. I feel depressed, but I have good moments also. I told the dr how my sugar free/gluten free diet helps so that I dont need to wear the brace. He didnt believe in that (surprise surprise).. I just want to go sleep and not wake up. So many days are just unbearable.. I dont know what to do. Sorry that Im so negative right now.. I do believe in God and that everything has a meaning. But I wish I would be over this all already..

Next week Im getting new orthrotics. I saw a dr at the foot clinic and he was talking about my wrong posture, very flat feet and wrong walking technigue. But the rheumatologist didnt think that could cause knee inflammation. Who do i trust?!?!? Seems like I have to be my own doctor. But I just dont have the energy and strength to..

Katja

Energy...

Eat healthy, hydrate a lot, give up sugar, artificial sweeteners and junk (fast) foods, start on a good probiotic, lose weight if you have to, go to sleep on a regular schedule.  I dropped 57 pounds in 11 months and have kept it off for another year.

Strength...

This only happens when you commit to a program and make it part of your life...

If you can't do this, walk as much as you can.  Hope this helps...

Hello again, Katja - poor you!   You are really going through it.  Look at the comments of Chico and 'Oldfatguy' - they seem to have an abundance of good advice and experience to offer.   As I said in an earlier post, I am not medically trained so I am unable to offer any practical help to you, just sympathy - and best wishes that things improve soon for you so you can start to enjoy your life again with your little one.   Take care. x
