Hi there,
I have been suffering from depression and health anxiety for the past 10 months.
I have now recovered 80%. I am no longer in the dark tunnel, and is able to go to work and function normal.
However, I still have constant back pain throughout the day. .my neck and shoulder muscle are very tense and I still feel anxious most of the time at work. I am unable to relax.
My doctor put me on 10mg fluoxetine. It is my 4th day on this med. Prior to this, I have been on a ssre called stablon and a anti-anxiety med called rivotril.
The ssre fixed everything except 20% of my anxiety remains and the serious neck and shoulder muscle pain remain.
My question is:
Did anyone of you have neck and shoulder muscle pain during depression ? Did fluoxetine fix the problem ?
I am 45. I still want to be able to work for 15 more years. I dont know if I can still cope with this pain. I hope it will go away after taking fluoxentine
Peter
Hello,
Good job ! 80% better is wonderful !
Yes, I too experienced the neck and shoulder pain. Still do sometimes, I did not take any medication for it but instead went to massage therapy a few times. I have also trained myself to stop what I am doing several times a day and do shoulder shrugs, arm circles and gently stretching my neck from side to side and front to back.
It seems to have helped me.It might be worth trying.
I am not a medical professional, this is just from my personal journey.
Good luck and keep kicking the black dog to the curb ! tee hee
Hi Peter - I had neck/shoulder pain with headaches and sometimes migraines for years due to the tension caused by anxiety. Have you tried an osteopath? It made a real difference to me. Also, is your work physically repetitive? Or are you in front of a screen all day? These things can cause/exacerbate issues such as you have described. Good luck.
Thx Wayne, Brenda for your recommendations
My job does face the computer all day . I will do some breaks for exercise and also try osteopath like you said
I am on fluoxetine eight days now, the antidepressants did help me to relax and I feel less pain now... I hope I will be 100% back to normal soon
