Lest anyone think I've been ignoring them, no I haven't. I just don't have time to manage the notifications list any more with this new format. I even had problems figuring out how to post to this forum, used to be automatic! Now you have to look for your community first.... I check in daily and if there's anything on the top page addressed to me I will answer, but if your reply has slipped to the second page I won't see it. Private messages I will see. :) Maybe after I've moved and everything is settled I'll take a few days to sort through everything again. In the meantime, hope everyone gets as well as they possibly can. Cheers!
Thanks Anhaga,
Sorry you're finding this such a pain. I rely on email notifications so haven't found it too tricky. Punctuation and all those capital letters are the things that are driving me mad. So sloppy. It just seems that it wasn't broken and didn't need 'fixing' or at least not like this!
please check back in Anhaga once you get settled! I've been sensing your frustration lately and completely understand why! my notifications are "iffy" as well, and since I've been so consumed with California wildfires as of late (and the awful effects of the HORRIBLE air quality and the toll it's taking on me), I too, don't have the patience to mess with the glitches right now! too bad as I could use this forum right now!
This is the process I go thru to read this forum... I have bookmarked one of my own posts. That is how I find this forum. 1, On that page there is a "Notifications" label in the upper right corner if there are any new posts on this forum. 2. I click on "Notification" label and new page shows up with all new posts marked with little red asterisk 3. Click on any post - read it and then use the page back arrow to get to the notification page. 4. Repeat the process until all notifications are read.
My email notification go to "junk" folder on purpose, there are too many of them ... and the last note, hope your move goes well, no need to worry about this forum... We will be here when you are all settled.
They do seem to be messing around in this forum, why? Everything was simple, easy to use/understand! Grrrrr!
At present I don't find it too bad - I come directly to a post via my emails and the last week there haven't been that many (despite me following 3 different forums) and they match the in-site notifications. Are you still having other problems then?
Come back soon - I shall miss you here.
Come on gals and lads, its a challenge , dont give up ....this forum is still up and running...lots to learn ...
no pain, no gain...;-)
FYI for when you have the time to look into things....I wasn't getting notifications for ages so decided to go to the website and discovered my email had been blocked. I entered a new password (which was actually my old one) and am now receiving the email messages on a regular basis again. Crazy!!
What gain?
I have to say it seems better already - some things have been sorted out, links are working straight away now. I understand they were working on it last week - hopefully with effect...
I, too, find it has improved recently, Eileen, though I'm still not sure why they changed it in the first place and upset so many. I also rely on email notifications and now that I am back in the loop I am finding it much easier. Emojis still not working in a straightforward manner and I can't remember how to do them the long way.
Betty dear
getting help and advise from peeps like EILEEN is a huge gain ..
sorry you feel so bad, take care ..
Think of a colon for eyes, brackets for mouth - colon, close bracket looks like a smile. Use a semicolon to wink...
No, I don't feel bad exactly just indignant at the time I have to spend making sure I haven't missed anything. If we can just have back the facility that allows us to mark as read individually I'll stop moaning. Oh, yes, and the long promised edit button.
I've been benefitting from Eileen's input as long as anyone and I certainly appreciate it. So, I repeat, "What gains?" Tell me one useful thing that we have now that we lacked in the past.
Yes, that's what I do and if there are several on the same thread I go first to the most recent and scroll back to the earliest and keep my fingers crossed that I'm not missing anything. But what a pain the back arrow procedure is.
Happy moving day from me, too, Anhaga.
Thank you, Eileen. That's a good way of remembering it.
I hope the move goes well, Anhaga, and doesn't cause problems with your PMR. Look forward to you coming back.
I have no problem seeing the list of notifications. I deliberately do not get email notifications because they fill up my inbox and I prefer to use the link to the list on the page.
This post elicited a bunch of replies. Not so long ago I could have read through the whole post, all the replies, gone to the list of notifications and one by one quickly marked as read all the replies to this post. I do not have time to open every single reply separately.
Even this wouldn't be so bad if you could scroll down to the following pages but I can't do that unless I've marked everything as "read", whether I have read every post or not.
I do not think a single thing has been improved for me on this forum. I do not like the white, the green was easier on the eyes. I do not like that we lost our own special cute animated emoticons. I do not like that the actual use of the forum is more difficult. For example it took me two tries to post this because I didn't know that you now have to find your community in the long list of all the communities. As I belong to two or three communities I would have thought a simple list of my two or three to choose from would be adequate. It is on Healthunlocked, and before now on Patient I think you were just given an option to change the community you were posting to if you wanted to. So, okay, that's not a big deal, but it was really annoying to me. I had to type my post twice and waste time looking for the community.
Actually there is one improvement, which is a policy improvement, which is to allow more things to be posted without moderation.
I will still check in, don't worry. But I absolutely cannot cope with the way this forum is set up now.
I've spent many hours this weekend painting. Now the unit which seemed a bit like a cave to me is bright and sunshiny and you feel the people who live there live by the sea, as indeed we do!
Unfortunately when they opened up the walls of the bathroom they discovered a leak originating from a unit above us and until that's repaired - no bathroom! This leak was discovered several weeks ago and NOTHING has been done to fix it. Our contractor is getting antsy about this issue because it's holding him up too. So it will be a while before we can actually move in. We had hoped to have our son stay with us in a renovated condo while wiring is upgraded in the house, now all three of us will have to live in the house while the rewiring takes place.
Still, we have a home.
Oh, and the painting and PMR? Yes, I feel it. But so far a night in a warm bed seems to loosen up all those tight muscles. And my sons have been helping so it's been kind of fun.
