Hi everyone,
I’m posting this under anxiety catogry because I’m so worried about it and I have a history of health anxiety.
Basically I’m very clumsy and done something very silly, hit myself in the eye with my blinds. It was dark and I tried pulling them aside to look out the window and I couldn’t see what I was doing. It both touched my eyeball hard and hit my eye and the area around it.
Anyway when I looked in the mirror my eye looked fine apart from looking redder than the other one. I put water on it and everything. I closed one eye at a time to check my vision is the same in both eyes and it seems fine. I checked my side vision as well. All normal.
I started getting a headache. I wasn’t sure if it was from the stress of the situation or from what I actually did. But anyway, most of the pain in my eye is gone but it feels very sensitive. Although not the actual eyeball itself. Mostly the area around it, especially above it. If I open my eye wide or look up, the area above my eye hurts and around it. It also feels like a headache behind my eye.
What I’m worried about is that I could’ve damaged my eye long term. Or if I’m just overreacting. I tend to overreact about these things often so I guess I’m kind of reassurance seeking.
Thanks in advance.
it’s logical that your eye area would still be hurting. after all it was hit. You probably have bruising soreness even though you don’t see a bruise. sounds like your vision is fine but you just have to give it time to heal. It’s just like if you get hit anywhere else on your body it’s going to be sore and hurt for several days or maybe even more. The eye is no exception. The area is probably bruised underneath the skin. if it doesn’t go away after several days then go have it looked at by your doctor. But it doesn’t sound like anything serious. Try not to overthink it.
