Can this prolapse be the cause of chronic obstipation and can it be treated?

I suffer from chronic obstipation (but often also diarrhea at the same time) for over 20 years. I sit on the toilet for hours every day. Doctors diagnosed IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), more recently an outlet obstruction called anismus (or dyssynergic defecation).

Biofeedback therapy did not help. Fastening reduces the symptoms a bit.

I feel ashamed to show this picture to a doctor in person.. can this (prolapse?) be the cause and would there be a way to treat it? It gets bigger when the symptoms get worse.

I would show this picture to your doctor and do not be ashamed because doctors are very accustomed to seeing all sorts of things. Your doctor is the best person to advise you on the questions you have; you will get reassurance that way. Very few of us on this site are doctors so we are unable to diagnose you.

What? You’re ashamed to show your doctor, but not to show us?
I think you have things a bit reversed. Your constipation is causing the hemorroids (sp?) or prolapse. Straining on the toilet for hours is not the way to go. You probably need to see your doctor. They will probably tell you what fiberous healthy foods you should be eating , etc… I’m surprised you haven’t gone yet cause hemmorroids can be very painful and when things get worse will bleed.
I have gone through it.

Thanks for your replies.

Yes, a fibre rich diet + lots of drinking help a bit. I have been checked for hemorrhoids..that’s not it. It does not hurt nor bleed. But it also does not look as bad when I am not pressing.

I can’t push this back inside where it should be. It won’t stay.. and I think it is the reason why I am tensioning the wrong muscle’s instead of relaxing them when pressing.

I have been at several doctors and hospitals already. I just never found a way to clearly describe what I am showing in the picture yet.
