can use of zopiclone cause panic attacks

Well I have been using this drug on and off the past few years. Have been using the past few months constantly one.

My question is can withdrawing from them cause panic attacks

From my own experience of 19 years on zopiclone and finally getting off of it, my withdrawal was panic attacks, severe anxiety and suicidal thoughts.  I reduced my zop and substituted with diazepam...then eating raw marijuana, which stopped my withdrawal symptons.  I am now off of zop and using low dose trazodone.  I went thru a very difficult period between being off all sleep meds and wound up in the hospital (Canada) for one week while they stabilized my trazodone and I attended support therapy sessions.  Now I am back on track.

Hi there, For me just thinking about stopping has caused me panic attacks but i realise this is probably normal and in itself a good reason to stop taking it....Robin

Yep. Withdrawing it from it gives you panic attacks, worry, heart palpitations etc etc. The problem is that the Z drugs have a short half life (5-6 hourse) to you effectively get withdrawal effects in a short period. Go see your doctor and get on the Ashton plan for crossover to diazepam. They have a much longer half life (like a day or so) so its easier to take them less frequently, and more important, to gradually reduce the dose.

I had bad effects if I didn't taker Zops regularly. Now with Diazepam these are under control and I can debig a slow withdrawal from that,
