My husband has finally been offically diagnosed with Meniers after suffering for 2 years with the long list of symptoms that cause this debilitating disease. His work are being very supportive even though he is currently signed of sick. However, he was employed a a fork lift truck driver and has been told by his doctor that he is no longer able to drive which also meand he can no longer do his job. The nurse at his work has said that his employers have to find him a new role, but as she has also said that he is not allowed on the factory floor, is not to work alone, should limit the time he is on the PC and he has no way of actually getting to work, we are preparing ourselves for the worst and are expecting him to be made redundant. Does anyone know if we can claim Disability Living Allowance for Meniers and if so how difficult is it? We have Hospital letters etc dating back over the 2 years as evidence of the tests he had done and also the medication prescribed. At the moment he can only walk a VERY short distance and that is only with holding on to me like a frightened child.
1st off make sure you get full support form your Gp before you try to make a claim, because without your Gp's support the claim will be worthless.
2nd Make an appointment with citizens advice, let them know its to fill out a disability form, as they have special people for it.
3rd take all appointment and dates with you
4th be truthfull on everything, make sure you explain how MD has ruined both of your lives, in the way of the things you used to beable to do and now cant.
5th make sure they understand the attacks are random and you never really know when the next one is comming
If fails appeal, or try for incap benifit
let me know how you got on
