Can you have a gallbladder attack that is not caused by food? I can get more nauseous and more pain when i eat but i have had a attack with voiting and bad pain in right upper abdomen when i had not eaten any thing. So can it happen when it is not started by food?

Hi. My attacks used to happen two hours after eating any food and mainly in the evenings. Some people get attacks soon after eating and some a bit later. How long after eating are you having pain? Hope it eases for you. I had my gallbladder removed 5 weeks ago and it is great not worrying if i will have pain. Just have an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach after eating certain foods now.

yes you can have gallbladder attacks even if you don’t eat anything. Your gallbladder probably has sludge build up. So when it moves through out the gall it can trigger an attack. Even if you eat a little you could have them the next day. so until you get it removed you will have attacks.
.

You have to remember the Liver squeezes the Gall Bladder to expel bile into the common Bile duct and that also has the Pancreas duct as well joined. I can assure you I had some water when I was really bad and yes even that brought on an attack but this was not as bad as when eating I must say. I just got fever when I drank. It all depends which organ is affected and or ducts.
