Can you have PAE procedure after having Urolift?

I had Urolift 4 months ago and not seeing much improvement even with taking Tamulosin (Flomax). Been reading about PAE (prostate artery embolization). Sounds like it could be a more successsful procedure. My question is: Can this procedure be done with the implants from Urolift, or would those need to be removed prior to the procedure? Anyone out there with experience with this PAE procedure? Thanks,

I had a PAE 18 months ago. I don’t think have UroLift precludes your from PAE which is technically non-invasive. All that said, nobody know what will happen to your UroLift staples, once the prostate starts to shrink after PAE. Also, UroLift is as rule used for smaller prostates (less than 60g), while PAE works best on large and very large prostates > 90 g. So to say opposite cases. Don’t know what is your size and it will be up to the radiologist who will perform PAE. PAE is not performed by Urologists.
You need to know your size and anatomy (medial lobe size). Also PAE is not always covered by insurance, except Medicare.

I had a urolift almost exactly one year ago. It left me worse off than before the procedure. I had 5 clips put in. I have had incredible pain, and a sudden chronic constipation. The pain was like a cockleburr stuck in my urethra. I had a PAE in two steps, one in May and one in July. The IR had trouble getting to the left side, so I had to do it again. The first time was through the wrist, the second through the femoral. The first positive effect is that the urolift pain dissappeared almost immediately after the first PAE. I have slowly been improving, and have gone from a maximum sleep interval of 45 minutes to two hours. My clips were not removed.

Thanks for that information.
