Can you have symptoms and not have an outbreak

Hi. I've only had hsv 2 for almost 3 months and I've already had two outbreaks and may be on the verge of another. I just finished taking valtrex for 10 days for the second time. I literally just took my last 2 pills yesterday and today I'm having outbreak symptoms. Is it possible to have one so soon after finishing up the valtrex? Is there anyway I could just be having symptoms and will not experience an outbreak? I just find it so crazy how I can be having another outbreak right after I've finished my medication.

Most people have no or few symptoms from herpes infection. When symptoms do occur, they usually appear as 1 or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. The blisters break, leaving tender sores that may take up to 4 weeks to heal. Another outbreak can appear weeks or months later. But it almost always is less severe and shorter than the first outbreak.

Although the infection can stay in the body forever, the outbreaks tend to become less severe and occur less often over time. You can pass genital herpes to someone else even when you have no symptoms.

Hi sherry since I been diagnosed I have had 2 outbreaks as well. It's been 2 months since I have found out. I have itchy some times that comes and go but never to intense. I don't have swelling or redness around the itchy parts. I don't get sores well what I can see. I don't feel pain either. I have asked my doctor and she said sometimes it's your body fighting the virus and building antibodies against it. I hope this helps. I am still trying to cope with this as well.

Hi some people are unlucky and experience alot of outbreaks the first few years of being diagnosed if it is that bad you can go on to suppressive treatment which means taking a tablet a day for 6 months to a year tge best thing is to go to your doc and talk to them about it

Also you need to strengthen your immune system so take vitamins everyday and foods that are naturally red help your immune system aswell having a strong immune system helps againt any future outbreaks x

Thanks guys you've all been helpful. I'm hoping this is just a little irritation and it will pass. I don't have any blisters yet so I'm trying to remain optimistic. I really don't want to be on suppresive therapy because my stomach has a negative reaction to the antivirals.
