I had a sever case on pure O.I dont to forget anxiety, depression and what came with Ocd.I was on medication stopped it cold turkey 2 times because i was feeling good and thought that i didnt needed those meds anymore. But it came back and stronger than ever. This time was a real monster,a torture. After 3 year on sertraline i can say that i am living my life but i have blips once in a while.I thought that blips wouldn happen anymore because of the medication. But it is what it is.We have to be strong.
You can dull down OCD with medication but therapy is better long term as it helps you to understand what is happening and to help yourself by creating new coping strategies that you can use as required..
Sometimes i think that i cant take it anymore but i have lived with this quite some times.it takes a village to create a good routine for coping with these issues.
This may sound odd but please bear with me...
I you can learn to be the 'Watcher' of your thoughts you may be able to get the OCD manageable..
When you feel an OCD thought enter your mind acknowledge that its there, don't fight it, let it pass without acting on it.
Don't take your thoughts too seriously!
I use this method to successfully manage Anxiety.
Thank you.i will give it a try.
