Can your faulty ear gubbins be removed?

What we all know is that the reason we feel dizzy is because our senses are mismatched. A faulty message from the inner ear is being sent to brain and confusing the hell out of it.

What is quite clear is if the brain can’t ignore these faulty messages after all these years, I don’t think it ever will. But what if you have an operation to get rid of the dodgy inner ear gubbins, that would stop the faulty messages in it’s tracks wouldn’t it?

If you think about it we know eyes are important to our balance but you don’t see or hear about dizzy blind people. I’m watching Colombo (Peter Falk) and he has only got one eye but he’s not walking around like he’s pissed.

I don’t know about you my dizzy friends but I think I would rather my brain would receive no inner ear signals at all, rather than receive a bunch of faulty ones.

What are your thoughts and does anyone know if this surgery is possible.?

Ear Gubbins - i love your description!!  I don't know, but i will put a question about it on Veda facebook page and see what they say.  but yes i do agree with you re blind people, and Columbo. As you say, better to not receive faulty signals from the ears if possible, but what about eyes!  mine are my biggest problem as i'm not dizzy when they are shut, - well i still feel it going from open to shut, but before i open then in the morning on waking up i am not feeling it, ut as soon as i open my eyes, i am feeling it.  Try telling drs this and they just stare at you like you're from outer space!! (maybe i am)

There are surgeries that can be performed. The vestibular nerve can be snipped but initially that makes the vertigo much much worse or they can inject stuff into the labyrinth to effectively kill it off but that also destroys the hearing. They can inject an antibiotic directly into the labyrinth as well which is meant to have good results but it can also lead to loss of hearing x

not sure i would want to risk any of those!
