You have got to be kidding! Linzh that's appalling - don't they have more than one? Did they offer you a GA instead? I am absolutely gutted for you and it just makes me SO mad when patients are treated with such a complete lack of respect and regard. I hope you're going to make an extremely strongly worded complaint?
It was the hip pack for the implant and instruments etc that wasn't sterile, I really don't know if I can go through this again x

Oh no linz That is really bad. But think of it this way. Wouyld you rather have something that is not sterile put inside you causing more issues or have it canceled and wait till they replace with one that will not cause you issues ? Yes it is a pain. But better they noticed showing they are watching everything. Than to notice and use it any way or not notice. Stay positive they did you a favor and it shows they are doing there job right. They will have to order a new one which is made only to fit you. That is why it will take a while. My consultant explained this to me yesterday when I asked how quick he can get me in to stop the agony in my right hip. See this as a positive. .
So sorry to hear that. Mine was cancelled yesterday. Surgeon got call to attend family matter minutes before my op so I was sent home. I didn't sleep last night and just can't stop crying. I'd invested so much time and effort to prepare. Op was timed to fit in with school hols, work etc and all scuppered now. He can't do sooner that 29th June as out of country. I've now got to get head around going back to work and starting all practical and mental preparation all over again. Like you not sure I can but have 2 young children and I have to get well for them.
I know how you feel, must be devastated. I guess we've hit to pull ourselves up and get on with it. If next one cancelled don't know how I'll cope. I'm private and just didn't expect it at all. Karen
Good grief - how sloppy ... hard to believe, but Hailea is right - as awful as it is, better when it happened than when you are opened up and the get the OOPS .... or worse .. when they try to make it fit and then it doesn't ... so incredibly sorry Linzi -

Thank you all for lovely words and cyber hugs! I'm now at home and running a hot bath. Back to work tomorrow too! The consultant did say I could have another hip, but he agrees with me, that the one we discussed will give me a better life of my age, so I know it's right that it should be cancelled, but I'm still upset. Thank you all again xxx
OMG!!!!! what a total disgrace! I'm totally shocked, no wonder the consultant was mad, I can't believe this could happen, I hope you register a strong complaint, good luck for the 23rd
