l have constant loose bowel movements and weight loss and loss of appetite. my doctor has put me on an urgent appointment for a camera scan of my stomach and bowel at my local hospital. l telephoned the hospital to find out when l would be seen as l have been waiting for 4 months so far and l haven't heard from anyone about an appointment. l was told that l was on a 2 year waiting list. I could be dead. before l get an appointment. So much for going to your GP and reporting cancer symptoms. l am 58 years old.
2 years to wait. for that is disgusting. The only advice i can offer is to get in touch with PALS. You can find them on internet. I’m sure they will be able to help in some way. That’s what i would do.. Hope this helps.
Did you phone appointments or the consultants secretary ? If you pile it on with the secretary she will usually be sympathetic. I phoned one time when my GP had only managed to get my 26 week appointment down to 21 weeks. She called back later that morning with an appointment at 8.45 the next morning. The registrar greeted me with “So you think you have cancer” I replied that I did not think that but had been in pain for some time and did not think I should wait another 21 weeks.
I had all the tests but a barium enema X-Ray rather than a colonoscopy. I had diverticulitis and at the final consultation he seemed pleased to tell me that" You have a guts ache and will have to live with it"

When I last needed a colonoscopy about five years ago I said that I would prefer to have a virtual colonoscopy privately done as a CT scan but it of course cannot take any samples or remove any polyps.
My GP said that the ordinary one could be done in two weeks in a private hospital as an NHS patient. I live in Sussex. I agreed to that but it turned out to be a bit of a disaster as the probe stimulated my vagus nerve and my BP and heart rate dropped alarmingly and they had to pump drugs into me get it back up and keep me there until evening. However I went into atrial fibrillation and later needed to have a cardioversion to get my heart back into rhythm.
