I have fluconazole resistant candida esophagitis. I am trying to figure out if I want to do the IV treatment or the ORAL treatments. I am a teenager and sometimes forget to take pills. I also wanted to know if you have to be hospitalized for the IV treatments?
I was previously diagnosed with GERD before they figured out that it was actually an infection.
Can you tell me what causes, or contributes to this medical problem? I have esphogual problems, and I've had symthom for 2yrs. It started with a feeling of something always stuck in my throat, along with coughing up yeast like substance. I had a swab test, and I had oral thrush, why I had no idea. All my labs came back normal, except one that showed h-phylori, in which I had to be on two antibiotics. Then my sputum sample came back with a pseudomonus bacteria. My doctor said everyone has a certain amount of that type of bacteria in their mouths. Along with these symptoms, I've dealt with fatigue on a daily, the feeling of mucous in the back of my my throat constantly. And other symthoms. This has been very frustrating and time consuming. Does this sound like what you deal with?
I also always feel like things get stuck in my throat, cough up yeast, and feel the mucus constantly in the back of my throat. I did test negative for h-pylori. I would ask your doctor about an endoscopy test to at least rule out candida esophagitis. It is painless and only takes about 15 min. You do have to be put under anestisia.
