Hi: Not uncommon to have candida with IBS. I have had it for years. The dentist told me what I have on my tongue is the fungus prob. coming from my stomach or gut and that rinsing with mouthwash and brushing your tongue when you brush your teeth may help eliminate the condition. His hygentist gave me a flexible plastic strip with small raised sections to use on my tongue that helps somewhat but using the toothbrush is more helpful. Also the next time you see a physician, you might want to have him/her check for thrush (actual candida infection) and order blood work for B12 deficiency. Good luck.
I got thrush twice in the space of two months in 2015 when I was struggling to get my stomach pain diagnosed. I was put on antibiotics to see if I had a UTI. I didn't and the medicine made me feel sick, did nothing for my pain and gave me loose stools and thrush. The doctor told me antibiotics can cause candida. I was given a tablet and cream. The tablet cleared it but the cream caused irritation. I was told not to use it or try a mild anti itch cream.
