hi everyone ,
I hope i ll be able to find some hope and advices over here .
I am not a smoker, but 3 years ago i went for a euro trip and i went to Amsterdam , after some coffe shops for smoking weed, i ended up in the night eating a spacecake . i had , i think an overdose on it , my heart was beating fast, i had like some hallucination like i was peeing my self ( but i wasn t ) etc. next day i woke up with his sensation of being half-awake. i ahve this sensation since then . i thought at first it was like a hangover Cannabis induced. but it never left . couple months later i started to have like dizzyness too, but not a realy dizzyness , like i don t see my environmenet moving or anything , but i feel like the inside of my head is empty , and it got worst at some times in the day. it s very annoying . i thought it was something different from a cannabis consequences so i did several investiations like cerebral MRI and stuff but nothing special was found .
i feel like i have a little derealization tho , feeling like if my eyes was 1 inch back the place where there supposed to be . i mean like there before this badtrip i was perfectly awake and my environement was perfectly seen, but now i feel like there s a kind of distance between me and the environement .
it s very incapacitatying . i won t be able to hold this far more .
i went to see a psychiatrist to get some advice , she told it shall pass by the time . and that maybe i could take some antipsychotics for like 10 days. but i am afraid tho that those antipsychotics turns me into a psychotic patient tho .
if anyone experienced the same thing as i did . if you managed to get ur life back like it was , or if u working on it , i ll be glad to read your experience and get advices .
Thank you
Hi there - your psychiatrist is absolutely right. A small dose of an anti-psychotic works wonders when you're in this state.
They're not addictive, either.
Go for it.
And let us know how you're doing. You need some support, so stay on the forum, please. love Tess x
are u sure of this ? i am realy afraid that those antipsychotis may disturb some intern chemistry , like disturb the neuromediators or i dont know what , and turns me psychotic... does anyone here already tried antipsychotics for issues cannabis induced like me ?
I am 100% sure. I'm a nurse, and a doctor and I were talking about this very thing a couple of weeks ago, and that was what he recommended.
Tess really knows her stuff, Yass!!!!!!!
thanks , and what about the amount of days , those 10 days of treatment enough ?? cause antypsychotics are oftenly given form months ?
i ll give it a try
i have nothing to loose ...
if someone already tried it for the same matter as me , i will still be glad to read you guys . thanks !
looks like she does , yeah !
That's the whole point. Anti-psychotics are given forever to people with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
A short course of a low dose is exactly what you need. You are not psychotic. You have derealisation, Yass, and they are very, very different. Give the medicaion a try.
thank you
u are giving me some hope of feeling better . if it doesn t work, well , i guess there s nothing realy left to do . thanks
Darling Yass, you came here asking for help. Very wise of you, now be wise enough to know when you are getting the exact advice that you need.
Tess is indeed a nurse for many years. Nursing is different in the UK where she is than here in the states. There they do many things a doctor does. And...she is an expert on drugs, their usage and dosage. Not every forum is lucky enough to have a medical professional. Recognize good advice when you hear it, Honey. Hugs
how come u know each other so well ?
i am glad to have god advices !
i got prescribed an atypical antipsychotic . is there an anti psycotic better than an other ? for the derealisation , or any antipsychotic will do the work ?
do u know , in the case that it works, the chances of relapse again in the derealisation ?
I know Tess from this forum and reading her excellent advise to hundreds of people in trouble. You are asking me questions about drugs. I always go to Tess for drug quetions. She is the one we listen to because this is her area of expertise!!!!!!!!
thanks !!!! i will go ask those question to her
! thanks you
i got prescribed an atypical antipsychotic . is there an anti psycotic better than an other ? for the derealisation , or any antipsychotic will do the work ? and do u think 10 days is enough ? to have the right effects ?
Your psychiatrist will have prescribed whatever anti-psychotic is most suitable for you, because s/he will have your full medical history, and I haven't.
Cia is right - nurses in the UK do prescribe medication and run their own PCP clinics, too.
When I was a midwife, i looked after my pregnant ladies right from the diagnosis of pregnancy till one month after the birth. I also did the delivery. Midwives in the UK have a duty of care, of course, so we always referred women with problems to the OB/GYN. But we did 90% of it ourselves.
I worked in the mental health unit of a prison for a couple of years, too, and ran a nursing home for the elderly.
Yass, try whatever the doctor gave you. If it doesn't work, which is possible, the doc can try something different. Do you know the name of the medication you've been given? love Tess xx
Sorry, Yass, just realised that I hadn't answered your question about relapse.
The chances are always there, but the vast majority of people recover for good.
Hope this helps. xxx
yass, I am beginning to wonder what you are really doing here????? You have been answered again and again and again....time to make a decision whether you are going to believe and act on all this information....or not!!
