I had carpel tunnel syndrome 15 years ago and had surgery.
i have now got the same symptoms in the same hand and arm.
can you get this syndrome a second time? I am a diabetic type 1 for 52 years

Yes, I think it can re-occur.
Perfectly possible especially as your diabetic.
Thanks for your message. I just kept thinking it was diabetic neuropathy so will now go back to my GP.
I've heard it can definitely come back, especially for those of us who are diabetic. I got some books on non-surgical treatments.
The Carpal Tunnel Helpbook
End Your Carpal Tunnel Without Surgery
Carpal Tunnel Simple Relief Exercises
The Ultimate Guide to Carpal Tunnel
How to Treat Carpal Tunnel by Ace McCloud
Maybe some of these will help both of us.
Best of luck and let us know how it goes.
Thanks for the info.
I went to see my diabetes specialist and he confirmed it was CTS. I now have to wait to see the electric response team to confirm it is CTS and not any compressed nerves up my arm.
i think it is CTS so am looking at your recommended books.
Thank you
Good luck! We can track each other's progress and keep encouraging each other. I'm going gangbusters on those books and trying everything. Part of it may also be neuropathy and I say that because I have that as well, but the CTS is a larger piece of it. I've found over the last 12 years that diabetes seems to complicate a lot of things. It just means we have to fight a little harder, believe in the best outcome a little more and never give up. Please keep me posted and I will do the same.
