I put castor oil on my lids at night, seems to make the swelling worse. What do YOU think? Thanks Dena 
You have probably clogged the Meibomian Glands!
Have you cleaned it off now? Hot water, a little mild handwash and then used as a compress on your eyes.
Thanks for the comment. I do it each night, and wash it off each morning with baby shampoo. I'm also having trouble now I think with the baby shampoo.

Baby shampoo is too harsh for many people, including myself.
I'm learning more as I go along...but what works for some doesn't for another.
One doctor said just washing well with plain water is sufficient.
I don't know about castor oil, (or any oils on the lids for that matter.)
But since you're worse, I'm sure you've discontinued it.
I hope you have success with getting the swelling down. The heated
eye packs and massage work; you just have to keep at it.
I am allergic to formaldehyde and formaldehyde releasers, which, is found in some baby shampoos, which is why I never use it.
My Consultant told me not to use any creams/oils near my eyes because they clog the Meibomian Glands.
And, as Susan says, you have to keep at it, just because the Blepharitis might appear to have cleared up, it doesn't mean you can stop your cleaning regime.
Whew!! Always be careful about putting any kind of oil in your eye.
Opthamologist in the family says never put vaseline and I assume
castor oil is just as bad since if this stuff gets behind the eyeball

Would never put vaseline/castor oil IN the eye only ON the lid.
The lids (and lashes) are dry and are trying to combat this problem without making the swelling worse, as in Dena's case.
Well, at first it seem to help, I nevver put it in the eye but around. Also, the baby shampoo seem to help but now seems to irritate my eye. Lynda79 says she just uses plain water to rinse the eye, I think I will do that. I injured my right eye, I accendtly put some esintinal oil in it in the middle of the night, thinking it was eye drops. I can't figure if I really injured it, or if it just kicke in the blef really bad. If you look in my eyes during the day you would think nothing was wrong, also my eyesight seems to be fine. Yeah, yeah yeah, I did a dum thing.
Ensure that you don't feed the beast ! Keep any oils or fats away from your eyes or the skin around them . Pretty sure that the bugs would love to live in it !
baby shampoo stiils contains agents to make it lather and industrial chemical cleaners too ! sad but true ! Try and get an organic product and when you find it please tell me the brand ! ( have been getting totally lost in the shampoo shelves looking for NO sodium laureth sulphates nor any other nasties .   A pure soap "scrubbed " through your lashes with your fingertips would probably do just as good a job . the brand simple soap maybe .

Did you dilute the baby shampoo? I read somewhere here
on this site that you should dilute it with water....I just use
a plain Q-tip to scrub a little. Think it does just as well....
Soap? soap in your eyes? Now that sounds painful. The baby shampoo is supposed to be gentle, other shampoo is very harsh. Still, I'm going to try to not use any shampoo, only water, and see how that works. This stuff makes you hate life. faye, you havft to put some lotion around your eye because the wet ones dry them out, and your wrinkles show up big time and get worse. What do you do?
hi , firstly I'm 61 so a few little wrinkles ( when they come ) don't really bother me ( !) and i use water from the kettle that has cooled to a pleasant temperature and kitchen paper to "drag off " and stickiness left over from the overnight lacrilube . flannel , a pure soap and a hot water face wash followed by blephasol on a cotton bud tip to the lashes . If you don't screw tight your eyelids you shouldn't get any soap nor blephasol in your eyes . I sit back and let the blephasol liquid dry and then very carefully go along the lashes/gland lines with a fresh bud . If any gets in the eyes i either put in an eyedrop or use an eye bath optrex . During the day if the eyes feel dry I'll eyebath or use another bud to apply optrex to the lashes and the gland line . By not drying the lashes ( any dairy cow would be proud of mine they are so long ) it locks in a bit of moisture , the witchhazel soothes the eyes and I'm sure makes things less than ideal for the bleph' bugs .
I got rid of the messy type of bleph last year and i've the drier eye type to control now . I'm getting there i feel .
David, what a regiment you haveft to go through! But it's worth it I'm sure. I'm using the wet ones, but have complicated things my injuring my eye,( although it dosen't seem serious), and My regiment isn't as complicated as it was. I sure hope to get rid of this.
believe it or not , it doesn't actually take me much time , I fit it in around my first cup of tea of the day and having breakfast ! Obviously repeated before bedtime . I've had 5 good days in a row now . There isn't likely to be a quick fix but I'm assured that it is possible to keep it under control and live a normal life .
I'm trying the Optrex eye wash right now. As to wrinkles, I
don't have too many and since I'm 78 yo I don't worry too
much about that kind of stuff anymore. However, still
moisturize daily......
