Upcoming surgery uses +22 poser monovision lens. What is this telling me?
Hi
A monofocal lens is the standard lens in cataract surgery, it is the lens with least side effects and most predictable outcome, and the most common used lens type.
There are more advanced lenses on the marked often called premium lenses, that in most cases can give more independence from glasses, but these premium lenses are quite expensive, and do have some visual side effects with some haloes and stuff around lightsources, so these lenses are not for everyone.
The lens power of +22 is what have been measured to fit your eye, we all have different eyes from nature.
The surgeon measures your eyes, and determine what power is the right one for you.
A monofocal lens will in most cases not give you full vision both far and near, the surgeon can aim for a specific range, often the surgeon will aim for best far vision, and some intermediate, and then in most cases glasses are needed for reading.
If your surgeon have not mentioned anything about target, I am quite sure he/she will aim for best far vision, but you could ask your surgeon.
Thanks for the info!
