cataracts and waiting for glasses

I am having my right cataract removed in two weeks time and the second four weeks later, so I will have about ten weeks to wait after the first op before I can get new glasses. I am currently long sighted. I’m wondering if I will have difficulty after the first eye is done with my current glasses, given that I will need to wear them for my second eye while waiting for the second operation.

It will depend to some degree on the type of IOL you have implanted in the first eye. If it is the standard monofocal set for distance, you may just have to remove the lens in your glasses for that eye. Then when both eyes are done also for distance all you will need are some reading glasses. I would wait 6 weeks after the second eye is done before getting any prescription glasses like progressives.

Thanks. I hadn’t thought of removing the lens, sounds like a good idea.

You may want to take the glasses to your optician and ask them to take the lens out. Sometimes depending on the frame they can be difficult to get out.
