hi. im having a second cataract removed in a few weeks. the first eye gave great vision. now im wondering with the second one removed, will my eyesight be too good. sounds a ridiculous question but thought id ask it nevertheless.
If you have a cataract in the second eye, it certainly should improve. There is always some risk that the outcome is not what is expected, but the odds are good if you have had one successful surgery already. Standard monofocal lenses are more predictable for outcomes than a multifocal or EDOF lens.
“will my eyesight be too good” - I find it ridiculous to ask for such things, there are people here suffering and you are asking about ‘too good vision’ - you don’t belong here!

I don’t think your question is ridiculous. When I had my cataracts removed, I remember missing my “softer” vision, things almost seemed “harshly clear”. The feeling was short-lived though, and I adjusted.
To anyone commenting that it is insensitive to be concerned about varying degrees of good vision, remind yourself that vision is a completely personal experience, and that none of us will ever completely understand how one another sees. Everyone here wants to be at peace with their vision, and that may mean something completely different to each person.
thanks for reply. i feel better about it all now. ive still got gritty feeling in operated eye though. its been over 3 weeks now. can’t feel it all the time luckily.
hope you were joking. everyone is welcome. personally i like seeing positive posts as usually there are more negative reviews as people generally only look for sites like these when things aren’t good. exception people who research ahead of the surgery often report back with positive comments (although not always). Statistically this surgery has very promising results for cataract patients. when i was diagnosed at 53 my first thought was of my mother in law who had her natural lens removed (no replacement lens inserted and thick glasses). For some reason I think she had to look at the floor or downwards for awhile too.
Hope you take this the way I intended (not trying to offend you as your story is just as valuable to us here on the forums. I do not think Tom was rubbing it in anyone’s face but just his exuberance over a great 1st result and hoping all turns out well for 2nd eye surgery.

What distance is your first eye done set for? Distance? And do you see well enough read with your non operated eye? If so, then there is a possibility that both eyes set for distance will not allow you to read. You might perceive that as eyesight that is “too good”. Readers of course solve the problem. You have just joined the elderly crowd that sees perfectly but their arms are too short.
