My prostate grew so big I suffered an acute urinary retention episode and my local hospital A&E drined the bladder and fitted a catheter (after 6 painful failed attempts). 2 weeks later Urology removed it and I just about passed the TWOC. 2 days later I happened to be near Chester and had another AUR emergency, and had another catheter fitted, and they discharged me, expecting my local hospital pick up the baton. The problem with that is, I can’t even get near a doctor to ask them to refer me to the local Urology department. So I’m left with a couple of night bags and a flip-tap catheter. nN top of that I have constipation that laxatives can’t move so far, and blood from the bladder and my willy, and still my medical practice wont see me for 2 weeks. So our NHS has dropped the baton and I’m left hanging. My only other option I suppose is to keep ujp the laxatives and go and sit in A&E for 48 hours again. What else can I do?

Clean Intermittent Catheterization (CIC) is a procedure where a thin, flexible tube (catheter) is temporarily inserted through the urethra into the bladder to drain urine, then removed.
Basically, you drain your bladder with a catheter and remove it right after. This will prevent future emergency visit. You can also do it as often as you need or like to. Hank
Bleeding is an emergency, I had this and the catheter can block from clotting, incredibly painful. Had it changed 3 times before having an operation on the prostate to stop the bleeding. A&E for sure
