Hi I’ve a CBT appointment on Friday & I just wonder if it helps with health anxiety? At least I think that’s what’s causing my anxiety at this time & for the past number of weeks. I’ve been before & trying to do what I learned before, but it’s like one step forward & two back.. so as I say I wonder how it will work on my latest “thing”.
I am having CBT now on my sixth appointment. Your therapist will work with you to see what’s you trigger, learn to deal with your sensations and emotions , teach you how to deal with it with mindfulness and exposure exercise . It helps me a bit . Is good to understand what triggers you and how to deal with a panic attack. Good luck xx
I pretty much know what my triggers are - stress, insomnia, articles I hear/see in the media re: scary health scenarios.
Right now my SIL is dying of cancer and as we are her only relatives (she's 94) and she is in a good nursing home - we have to visit her a lot and go on her dr appointments, care meetings, with her.
We have never been close with her and now she is very angry with her situation so our meetings are terrible as she in in almost complete denial about her condition and is very snappish. We are trying to get a counselor to come and visit her -hopefully she will come this week as she won't open up to us at all about her fears, etc.
As a result of all this I have been a wreck for over a month with at least 5 "serious" medical conditions - going from skin cancer (2) to breast cancer to lung cancer (dry cough) ...all due to stress, insomnia and the family situation.
