Central Abdominal pain

I have been referred to a gastroenterologist due to central abdominal pain. He took a full history and took some bloods (all the main ones plus celiac) and a fecal-calprotectin. To rule out IBD. All my results came back normal, he started me on a low FODMAP diet and told me to get probiotics. I have been on these now for around 4/5weeks. He seems to think I have IBS. I have been following the diet the best I can, and I don’t seem to be getting any better with the abdominal pain. I seem to have niggling pains all the time and more serve pain at least once a week no matter what I have eaten. When pressing my abdomen my pain is around my navel and to both sides.

Can you suggest anything it could be or anything I can take to reduce the pain. Paracetamol, buscoupan and ibroprofen don’t work for me. I am due back to see him on the 9th November. I’m going to try and request further testing i.e colonoscopy😐

Thankyou very much

Do you get change of bowel habit and does your pain move about? Have you had ultrasound? You may have IBS if all your tests are clear including an ultrasound. Fodmap and probiotics don't work for everyone and everyone responds differently to medication.  Ask your doctor for a different antispasmodic.  You may have to try several.

My bowel habits have changed but they don’t change when I have the pain. I can go up to 7times a day. I have not had an ultrasound and my pain remains central it doesn’t move at all. The best explanation is it is a stabbing pain continuously.

I would ask for an ultrasound since your pain is localised.
