What are the chances of being diagnosed with colitis and it actually being crohns?
I don't know what the numbers are, but I do know it is very possible. That being said, the treatments are pretty much the same so it does not matter much unless you are looking to do something drastic.
Hi, my son was indeterminate for some time but had tests at John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford and they found he was definitely UC so was able to have j pouch surgery as he had had an ileostomy about 12 months before. Only some hospitals have the expertise to fully diagnose the disease, example JR Oxford or St marks hosp London. good luck.
I think there is always a possibility as they are so similar..
It's not out of the question
Hi, it is actually rather important that the diagnosis is accurate as the meds can be quite different as well as diet. Go to St Marks London for the specialist treatment if possible. It is the IBD NHS hospital that is the gold standard and has been for years. Your GP can refer you.
Good luck.
Well they tell me I have 20 per cent crohns and 80 per cent uc.so you can have both .
Yeah, you can definitely have both, but I am yet to meet someone that has both. They had a hard time diagnosing me for about 5 years.
