Change in bowel habits..

Hi,

I've had an ongoing issue for 3 years.  End of January 2015 - diagnosed with a really bad sinus infection resulting in antibiotics.

From thereafter I have suffered from loose stools and nausea.  Nausea going from severe to mild.  When severe, I have loose stools up to 4/5 times a day with the urgency to get to the toilet ASAP.  I can also have bad wind at times.  I use to have formed, solid stools and go once every 1 or 2 days.

I have had numerous tests in hospital focusing on the nausea side.  Samples of my stools were tested but all clear.

I have looked at the foods I am eating, kept food diaries but I don't even know if a food is causing this as I can eat one thing one day and be fine and the next time, it causes me issues.

I've cut out foods/food groups that I suspected is causing this but makes no difference!

Has anyone else suffered from this?  Know what this could be?  Or recommend anything I could take or do?

Thanks!

My boyfriend has had similar symptoms he has lots of wind stomach pains and nausea most days he’s lost 2 stone in weight sometimes he’s constipated sometimes diarrhoea he’s had stool samples sent off by GP one came back high for calprotecin 875 should be between 50 to 100 in a healthy persons hes had colonoscopy with biopsies all normal barium meal of small bowel normal  results and ct scan looked normal consultants think it’s possible he has severe IBS they want a capsule endoscopy to rule out crohns but boyfriend isn’t upto drinking the nasty bowel prep so hasn’t had the last test as he feels so ill it’s so frustrating because he feels sick nearly every day so I know what your going through

Oh no, sorry to hear that about your boyfriend too. It is so frustrating. I'm hoping to get my bowel looked at as that hasn't been done yet apart from samples.

I have started taking digestive enzymes a few days ago, still unsure if their helping or not yet but will keep you posted as some times I go through phases of 4 or 5 good days! Hopefully your boyfriend gets better soon. Be better if he could get another test to check for crohns rather than that last one. Maybe he could check if there are alternative tests.

Hi the only other test is the capsule endoscopy I’ve heard some people have had every other test no crohns showed up on them until they got the capsule endoscopy and crohns showed up on that it can take years to diagnose I’ve heard some people got told they had ibs for years turned out it was crohns hope you start to feel better soon x
