Change of Anti Depressant

Ive been struggling with Depression and anxiety for years and bern taking Venlefaxine at max dose for this relapse which happened in September, my psychiatrist has suggested changing to Anafranil due yo me having obsessive thoughts which is what has been bothering me for months. I've yet to agree to it as it means me reducing the venlefaxine right down from 300mg per day to around 75mg per day.

Anafranil reviews show it yo be fantastic for OCD thinking and intrusive thoughts so wondered what folk on here think?

hi neil i to am trying to reduce venalaxafine due to a relapse i have been given quetiapine , i also suggested anafranil but they also said i would have to drop to a very low dose of venalaxafine due to the interaction , i hope it works for you i have read and heard good things about it , dont know much about  quetipine though

I having been using venlaxafine for many years also. When my depression got much more serious and the maximum dose was not working; the doctor tried a number of other antidepressant medications to add to my dose. We eventually came up with paxil, which was very successful in allowing me to carry on with my normal every day activities again and I began to feel. Although an old drug, it was very effective for me to get me physically back on track. Five years later, I no longer take paxil and I am now down to 75 grams of venlaxaphine.

Thanks guys for responses, I'm going to give it a try, psychiatrist said I need to reduce Venlefaxine to 75mg pd, ive been on it for years and think ive basically built up a tollerance, I'm much better than I was a few months ago, just left with obsessional compulsive thoughts which have been doing my crust in and really upsetting me.

Im giving it a week as psychiatrist upped my Olanzapine first.

Appreciate support.

Neil
