Hi Everyone, new to the boards.
I have been on Fluoxetine for 12 years, dose varying between 20mg and 60mg depending on mood etc.
ave just been switched from this to Escitalopram 20mg because my GP thinks my body is just too used to the Fluoxetine.
Just wondering how best to change over, shall I just stop Fluoxetine and start Escitalpram the next day??
thanks
Hi.
Ive been taking Fluoxetine for my bouts of depression which I've been suffering on and of for some 10yrs or so. And I've recently been put on another drug As my Physciatrist did not think that the Fluoxetene was working for me. And I have read somewhere that the body can be resistant some times to a drug but how true that is I don't really know. I was told that you have to be weened of of the fluoxetine before taking a new drug so please check this out with your Gp.
I just came across this thread and know it's been a while, but I was curious as to how you switch went?
Thank you for any reply

Id also think being weaned after longterm fluoxetine before introducing another antidepressant wud be what a good dr would suggest as par for the course ie speaking from experience of 13 yrs on mostly 60mg fluoxetine woth small bouts of 20mg xx
