I've had chest pain on & off for 2days. It just comes & goes & I can't seem to stop it. I've slept 7hrs but woken up exhausted.
I can't think of any reason to have made this all kick off again. Nothing has made me feel worried or anxious so because I can't work out what's started it I'm getting upset. My theory if I know what the problem is I can get over it & carry on my day feeling better.
I've had loads of good days recently, counselling told me after 1 session I was doing all the right things but then I grt days like this where I feel rubbish & end up making myself worse by worrying. Any tips or meds that have helped peoples chest pain??
Hi Vicki
I'm sorry that you are going through what I know is a frightening experience. I wouldn't wish it upon anybody. it's difficult to advise someone when you don't know all the facts. If it's any help, when it happened to me, I waited a while and it didn't improve so I went to the doctor, had an ECG done there and then to rule out any immediate concerns re: the heart. All was well. He gave me some mess for what sounded like heartburn and I began over time to improve. I have ME so I encounter all sorts of pain and anxiety so, through reading up on different things, I have learnt to pace myself in life and now I practice meditation every night before bed. This is the time that most affects me. I just cannot get to sleep, sometimes for hours. It really does mess up your life !!!
I am starting to come to terms with my illness by changing the way I view life. It's a tough one because we are creatures of habit, aren't we ?
I do hope you find a solution for you and some happiness.
Good luck
Jinny
Hi Vicki
I suffer like you are also, I have a good period then seem to go downhill again but I know that it is a temporary blip and I will be back to my original place in time, it may take a week or so but I do get there. In the mean time, does your chest pain feel a little like heartburn or indigestion? If it does try boiling some water and sipping it, as hot as you can manaor. I find this does help me and I try to have it two or three times a day (just before bed if you can). It doesn't resolve your anxiety but might give you some relief from the discomfort.
With regards to your anxiety I am trying out a 'technique' where if I feel anxious and maybe like I'm going to panic I tell myself that this is only caused by an adrenaline rush in my body (which is what causes panic/anxiety) and can't hurt me, try to accept the feeling and get on with what you are doing, deep breaths if you need to. I did this yesterday when I was shopping and the feelings had completely cleared in about 20 minutes. It's definitely worth practicing.
I hop hope some of this helps you and that you feel better soon.
I was originally told I had svt but after further tests it was confirmed as anxiety stress & depression. I've been doing really well but tjis weekend I've felt terrible. My heart rate is fine so no panic attacks just awful chest pain. Going to try to sleep it off for a couple of hours.
The pain is in thr centre of my chest I've trief cold water hot water stretching but it doesn't stop. Sleeping is my next option
Anxiety can cause a lot of issues, chest pain being one of them. I have physical illnesses as well as anxiety and other mental health issues, so it can be hard for me to know the source of my pain. I have SVT and when it happens, I need to perform carotid massage to make it settle. Have you tried to practice deep breathing/visualisation techniques to relax? I can teach you some if you like?x
