I am looking for advise as I get a pain in my chest. I have been to the drs & had an ECG, blood test an blood pressure taken. These tests all came back clear. The pain is slight but sharp and is on the left side of my chest, around the breast area. I get the sharp pain when I breathe in. It's not a debilitating pain but is a but painful but more than anything it plays on my mind & is concerning. I am a 39 yo male. I have looked into this and think it might be anxiety or maybe a strained muscle but not sure. Does anyone know what the issue could be?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I was experiencing very similar symptoms and had chest X-rays, heartbeat checked ETC, which both came back fine. I've now been told by two separate doctors that it is this http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Tietzes-syndrome/Pages/Introduction.aspx
Unfortunately there's no proper test for it, they basically rule everything else out. There's also no cure for it at the moment, although if you do some googling you can find some dietary advice which might help. The other bad news is that can be with you for a long time, I've lived with it for 3 years now, some people never get rid of it, for others it passes after just a few months. Although I still have it, it doesn't really bother me now, the pain is no longer significant enough to stop me playing sports, as it was originally.
Best of luck.
Sound exactly like what my symptoms were when I was diagnosed with it. I have had chest problems since a crash in May 2012 and was diagnosed with Costo in Feburary.
I suggest taking anti-inflammatories such as Naproxen alongside a strong painkiller. Heat packs, hot baths and rest and it might ease off on its own.

I wish you a speedy recovery from this awful condition.
This is what I was given when I was diagnosed, it was like pure relief someone had found what I was going on about!

Tietzes Syndrome is based on SWELLING, Costro is INFLAMMATION.
