It's been almost three months from my PE on riveroxaban and stil getting ccassional chest pain. Sometimes quite scary even if just started to walk slowly. Is anyone else getting these I read it's scar damage but is it or should we be concerned . Also get occassional stabbing in calf no redness or heat and it goes away not concerned about that just wondered if anyone else does
Hi. I had blood clots in both lungs over 2 years ago and still get chest pains and calf pain! I was told chest pain is scar tissue after it continued for some months. As I am still coughing, was told I have chronic bronchitis by the Hospital after a repeat of chest pain/coughing/breathlessness. I was concerned about calf pains, as had two DVTs in the past, but no cause for the pains. Hope this helps, but better get checked out/ Hope this helps.
Hi there, I am almost a year on from my PE and still get chest pains and pain where the original DVT was in the leg. My specialist couldn't offer any explanation for the chest pain and didn't seem concerned about the leg pain. My GP suggested that if I still have chest pain after a year then it may well always be present. I'm trying to stop worrying about it but it's not easy is it?!
Hi Tina :-)
I had my first P.E. in 2011 and have always had chest pains on and off since! I, too, was informed that this is due to scar tissue. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to when I get them though I do find high humidity makes them worse. I had my second P.E. this year and I can now differentiate between the acute and ongoing pains. I felt as though I was being stabbed in my chest when I suffered my last one but the ongoing pains are sharp ( but not as sharo ) or they feel as though somebody has just kicked me really hard in the ribs! Naturally I feel anxious when they come but then remind myself of the aboveand they usually go again after 24-48 hours at the most. Hope this helps a bit :-)
