Has anyone experience of having a Chielectomy im due to have the procedure next week but unsure whether it is worth having. im 66 and also worried about having GA. THANK YOU .
What is a chielectomy?
It depends how bad the pain in your big toe is and whether taking painkillers might be a better option. Surgery involving your foot would involve a period of down time while your toe heals It comes down to whether you want that hassle. If you are worried about a GA, maybe ask if you can have a local anaesthetic instead or don’t bother with the surgery if it is causing that amount of worry. My dad has bunions which can be very painful at times but hr declined surgery because of the recovery time involved.
I shouldn’t worry about a GA. Most ops go fine. I’ve had 6 and had no problems didn’t feel a thing. In England you can ask for a local anaesthetic and sedation for this op.
