Hello,
The guideline of testing chlamydia and gonorrhea mentioned the window period is 2 weeks, which means by 2 weeks window time, most of new infection could be detected.
whats the earliest someone would get a positive result with the modern NAAT test? and does anyone have any experience of this.
I found some information about the earliest time you could get a positive results with NAAT for chlamydia is 5 days and for gonorrhea is 7 days. However, the exact window time is unknown, and you are required to re-test chlamydia and gonorrhea after 2 weeks to get an accurate result.
Let me know if you have more concerns.
Regards,
Hugo
thanks Hugo.
its just confusing that they ask you not to delay testing, but seems little point in asking people to.
the messaging you be clear that it wont work within first few days, may work 5-14 days etc.
i found some other data which seems to allude they can test a few days after exposure as they search for DNA rather than anti bodies. An article on here by s doctor said window was between 1-5 days.
who knows seems to be a common complaint of practices.
would be good to see if anyone has tested positive early or has exierience in that field.
bump…
anyone got any experience either testing positive themselves after a few days or work in testing and know or early diagnosis?
