Choking on food MS or anxiety?

Lately for the last couple of weeks every time I eat something it goes down the wrong way and I start choking. This happens occasionally with drinking as well. I also have been urinating a lot more frequently in the past weeks as well. I have read that both these things are symptoms of MS and I am worried.

I have been worried about MS for a while now and have had other symptoms such as weird prickling pains in hands and legs which I got checked out at the doctors and were put down as a side effect of a medication I was taking at the time. I stopped worrying about MS for a while but my fear has come back in full force and I'm 100% convinced I have it, but I'm unsure wether to go to the doctor or not again as it is expensive if they are only going to tell me its anxiety? Help what do you think ?

Hi I have had the same think happen to me cannot drink cannot eat my legs and so on I went to my doctor and he told me it was all anxiety did all the tests for ms all clear so something new I can put down to anxiety it seems this will never end

Please don't Google symptoms! They don't pertain to your unique individual situation. Those are general statements and we tend to think worst-case scenario.

For instance, if someone is having chest pain they might think they're having a heart attack. Chest pain can be caused by anxiety, gas, indigestion, even straining the back and many other things. The same with your symptoms .

The choking feeling can definitely be caused by anxiety, it's very common. Urinating frequently can be caused by anxiety, medications, urinary track infection,  etc.  it's not a typical initial symptom of MS. Yes, if somebody has had it for a long time they could have urinary frequency. Your mind is going to the negative automatically .

when I was in my 20s I also thought I had MS because of the tingly feelings, urinating frequently, and many other symptoms. My tests were normal and it was all anxiety related.

if you want complete piece of mind, have your doctor order an MRI which will let you know for sure. But I would bet your test will come out absolutely normal.

you say you are 100% sure, but you have convinced yourself that without any real facts supporting that. So you cannot be 100% sure. You have allowed negative thinking in fear to convince you of that. You need to turn  that around!

what helped me a lot is visiting a counselor who helped me think realistically  and manage my anxiety that was controlling me and my health anxiety.

The worst thing is not the symptoms you are  feeling it's the overwhelming anxiety and negative thinking. Because if you don't get that in control,  there will always be something you are worried about. I wasted 20 years of my life worrying about my health and symptoms and nothing bad ever happened! I can't get those years back that I wasted. Don't do this to yourself get some support.

The worst thing you can do is sit around and think about your symptoms because they will get worse. Go about your life and do things that help you to relax.

Listen to some meditations on YouTube for anxiety. They are excellent. Many to choose from.

Get the MRI if it will bring you peace of mind. Hope you feel better soon
