hi I am 32 years old now, I was only a child when I had an operation to remove this disease, lately, I am having a lot of pain in my ear, tintis as gotten worse, I have had anti-b for baterial infection but hasn't helped, has any one had any recurrence of this diseases, with these symptoms

I am 47 and had a radical mastoid for c,toma when I was 11. A few years ago I started having ear ache that I had 6 lots of antibiotics for. Mr Patel the Ent specialist was brilliant. I had a CT scan and thanfullt nothing showed up! I had my ear drum and hearing removed when I was 11. I eventually had a mastoid cavity obliteration to fill the cavity left my the c'toma. There was some diseased bone removed and me Patel reconstructed my eardrum from my Tragus and reconstructed my hearing but the chances of it working were very slim. However that was Nov 14 and I have had one earache since then and I now have a hearing aid so I can hear a little on that side, which is better than nothing at all. Hope this helps

i have just recently had cholesteatoma and infection growth removed from my left ear. I am 25 and now have no hearing in this ear, hearing was perfect before July 2015. I've had some really bad tinnitus over this time too. Seems to have slightly settled since the op a month ago but early days. Is there anything you have heard that can treat tinnitus? My surgeon said a brain specialist would be my best bet to conduct some research tests on my brains behaviour. It's a horrible thing to have.
Also, how have you found having a baha hearing aid? I was told this can be done with me, however in loud situations my right ear will override this and I won't hear much from the left ear (deaf ear).

I am sorry, I have no info on tinnitus it's horrible, mine comes and goes.
i find the baha good in situations where I can't hear people talking to me especially work, I just turn it off when I don't need it. U get used to it, little things are mad when ur not used to hearing things, I remember the cutlery at the end of the sink really annoying and birds singing outside.

Thanks for the info Eileen, I'll keep looking in tinnitus, at the moment it's been ok but worried it'll come back.
Interesting to to hear about the baha, I think I could benefit from it and something I'll look into if I struggle to adjust with hearing only in my right ear.
No problem, I lost my hearing in my left ear when I was 8 I think, after my operations, and got the baha done when I was 21, so I think cause I was so used to not hearing it took me longer. I have the baha nearly 12 years now.
