Chondromalacia patellae

Hi all I have just been diagnosed as having chondromalacia patellae of the knee since the pain first began in December 2016. I have had physiotherapy & a cortisone injection which hasn't helped. To do the exercises my physiotherapist gave me just makes my knee very painful for the rest of the day. My MRI Scan I had done didn't show up anything. With this I can not work. Does anyone suffer with chondromalacia patellae that can give me some advice please on what treatments if any you found useful.

Thanks

Hi welcome to the pain drain, can I ask how you managed to get a fixed diagnosis if your MRI didn't show anything, I have a severe knee pain problem but they tell me its not real and that its from my hip, I have just read about Chondromalacia and it does sound similar to my symptoms and it Say's to exercise especially static bike and swimming, I do the bike but am not allowed to swim, wearing a in step riser is supposed to help, have you seen an orthotics expert yet.

Hi Karen,

I believe I have similar symptoms and my MRI showed arthritis under knee cap and no cartilage. Also I had Ortho scopic surgery in May of this year. No help, gel injection, no help. I also cannot work because of instability and pain. It's very hard to walk, stairs are nightmare. Good luck, I would hope that your Dr would do MRI as that will show more information so you can get help!
