It seems that sitting does make it worse..I have tried wearing different types of pants and underpants as the loose fit doesnt aggrivate it as much, with the scrotum hurting more in the sitting position. The pain at the end is more cylindrical as opposed to left or right...If the pain does become unbearable I tend to stand and walk around a bit for some relief. not always easy when eating out...I take over the counter pain meds from time to time offering a very slight improvement..but not lasting at all..and not a solution that I would like to rely on long term..
It is possible that your pains are neurological - ie referred pains and not an infection or a disease. The nerves that supply the areas of your pain would typically cause more pain sitting; affect the parts of your body you mentioned - ie the end of the penis and the anterior portion of the scrotum.
I would consult a neurologist or pain specialist and suggest the above.
Thanks for the advice. One of the most astounding statements I read when I first started researching this condition is to be prepared to go from Dr. to Dr. in order to find a solution that works for you...it's a terrible journey to undertake as so little seems to be on offer as a long lasting solution. Are you in the medical field? What do you think is the cause of this conditon. I have read so many conflicting theories ranging from bacterial infection UTI's and STD's..all very confusing..
Yes I am, but I am not a urologist.
I regularly see patients with pains in the groin/testicle/anal/vaginal/perineal regions and have a lot of experience in both diagnosng and, when appropriate, treating them.
The only symptom you mention which I am not familiar with is the feeling that your pubic hair feels like steel wool. I habve not encountered this before.
My suggestion is to do as I advised in my last post and investigate a neuological cause for your pain.
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my queries. I feel desperately alone in this journey and dont really know where to turn. The problem is that I live in a small coastal town where specialists are very scarce. I dont think that there is a neurologist in the area but will try and find one as close as possibe. Do you think that the pain could have been from an over zealous physical activity?
If physical then yes... but if you don't remember any particular incident then it is likely to be half a dozen or 119 - who knows - different tiny incidents that conspired to get you.
If left un diagnosed or un treated does the pain eventually subside..I am just so dreading going down another dead end road...nothing seems to help..
Unfortunately that is impossible to answer... until the diagnsis is made noone can advise on time scale/results/outcome/etc?
Perhaps go for the investigations presuming that they will find nothing wrong - this will not build your hopes up so much, but another appropiate avenue of investigation has then been done.
Hi I'm not a guy but some of the symptoms that you are describing are similar to the groin pain I get made worse during movement struggling to sleep and pelvic issues
Now mine were created by an accident I had a few months ago and as I had pervious sciatica but no groin pain a lumbar and scartal scan showed problems with my spine movement pars defect and prolapsed disc causing or compromising the nerves I have been reffered to neuro surgeon
Your pain like someone has suggested sounds like the source is somewhere else and radiated through nerves which supply sensation to those areas I would seriously think about going down the line of neural investigation with the possible source been in the spine particularly if you do suffer from lower back pain the pins and needles is a big indicator as I have alot of that
hi fozia. Thanks for the advice. This pain is really starting to get to me. One of the Dr's suggested that I try, with medication, break down the neural pathway that the pain has established between my groin and the brain. It was only moderately succesful and I was advised that there are many different medications to try if the first one didnt work...I guess that I am hoping for instant releif but sadly this doesnt seem possible...I have had this pain for such a long time that I seem to be taking it for granted that it wont go away...not a healthy approach...have you had this pain for a while as well..
Totally agree ... see a good chiropractor. Avoid ones who sign you up for lots of sessions... never go more than 4 or 5 times without seeing/feeling good results.
Same for physios - don't get ripped off - rememeber that their treatment is not usually of much use unless they are qualified to do acupuncture - physio treatment like ultrasound/exercises/interferential/heat/etc is not recommended by the NICE or other official guidleines.
Hi PainDoc
I would recommend that if you don't feel a difference after the first session do not go back they are not qualified enough or do not know what they are doing. This guy did not attempt to make me continue after the 12 booked sessions and had it not been for this accident I would not have had a reason to go back either
Government guidelines don't agre.
All chiropractors are qualified - it is illegal for physios and others to pretend that they are qualified as chiropractors or use their expert manipulative techniques.
Four or five treatmets are fine - there is absolutely NO NEED to sign up fpr 12 treatments at the beginning as the vast majority of cases will respond much more quickly. NHS audit of one chiropractor found the average was c.5 treatments.
I had a few problems with my back so I knew that I needed that bit longer if you go soon after the problem starts it's alot easier and does not require as much treatment
And I did not mean that they would not be qualified but from what I had gathered every chiropractor varies in their approach and use different techniques
Also when it is more than one manipulation it could become quite sore so it is better to deal with them in junks or a bit at a time I did it in sections
i have a similar problem that is only a little bit different, could you please check my post, maybe you can help me ?
Hi,
I've been suffering from chronic pelvic pain for a decade now. I've seen doctors, urologists, pain management specialists. I've had antibiotics, various painkillers, including those for neuropathic pain.
Unfortunately nothing has really helped me that much, although the Pregabalin I'm currently on provides some relief.
When it's really bad, the pain radiates from my groin into my lower back and down my left leg.
At first I found it difficult to believe that nothing could be found to be causing this and very little could be done to help me.I found it deeply depressing, have suffered from chronic insomnia and my quality of life has been badly affected.
I think many people suffer with this and just have to put up with it. I keep living in the hope it will one day go away in the same way it just started.
I'm sorry if I've depressed you.
Hi just a question have you had any spinal MRI of your lumbar area because what you
Are describing sounds like sciatica I have exactly the same thing and I have a grade 2 slip on L5 and a prolapse of the one above both hitting on the nerves which is what is causing the problem
Hi macdog..I really do understand what you are going through. This terrible condition seems to mystify even the most qualified specialists...and despite their best efforts there doesnt seem to be a tried and tested cure. I have had the same syptoms for over a year and like you am trying as best as possible to deal with it on a day to day basis. Some days better than others. I spend countless hours reading published papers on this condition and once again nothing concrete to extract from any of them.
We seem to be on our own in this regard.
One of the most logical medical explanations that I have read is that an infection of the prostate either bacterial or non bacterial can cause this chronic pelvic pain. These infections are very difficult to treat due to the sponge like texture of the prostate and the pain pathway becomes very well established between the pelvis and the brain and this pathway becomes one of the major causes of our pain.
I am currently trying to deal with it by concentrating on my overall fitness level in the hope of breaking this cycle. The sleep deprivation and constant anxiety can also I believe worsen the situation so hopefully the improvement in my physical condition will help.
Every now and again I take a strong muscle relaxant together with powerful pain killers which definately helps but is not the solution that I am looking for. We have no alternative but to try and find a solution that works for ourself. I really do hope that this is possible and stay positive. Regards Johnny
Just curious. Is this discussion still active?
I have been in pain for 3 months. Doctor says I'm fine but no causes.
When it first started, I peed out something hard and white with red on it.
Since, my right testicle hurt then the other and there is more and more blood in my sperm (hemataspermia)
It's very bad pain to just a soreness.
Sometimes I believe that ejaculation relieves the pain a little but then there is the blood.
