Chronic Headaches in Fibromyalgia

Hi everyone. My mum has Fibromyalgia and I am quite worried about her as she has chronic headaches all the time which are so painful that she cannot do anything and is sometimes sick. Each attack affects her neck and ears also. The GP has her on so many medications that don't seem to be helping. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? she has arthritis also.

Thank you. Kerry

Hello Kerry,

I see this post is over 1 year old, so hopefully your Mum is not still suffereing with her headaches. I know that lots of people with Fibro suffer this, luckily I am not one of them. So I have nothing really helpful to say, just look at her meds, cos I'm sure she doesn't need so many. If the doc hasn't helped her yet, find another doc.

Take care, Anne

Hi Kerry..I too suffer with dreadful headaches that make me feel sick, and it seems to be on one side or the other. Goes down into my neck and ny glands feel swolen with it too. I only take Oramorph for pain now along with Parcetamol, as other meds I have been on caused no end of side effects. Maybe your mum could be having side effects if she is on lots of meds. Get her to the GP and he will check her out. Regards...Anne...

Hi Anne, thank you for your reply. Does the oramorph work for you? She has tried and tested many medications but I don't think she has had that one. Thanks

Kerry

Hello Kerry

I have been on many drugs with awful side effects. I have weaned myself off them now, as its my body why put yourself through it. The Oramorph takes the edge off the pain for me, I have always got a bottle with me in the car, by the bed etc. If the pain gets really bad I go out for a short stroll that helps too..Regards Anne
