Hi all — lookin for some support and advice — especially from the men in the group.
I’m 18 months out following double inguinal hernia surgery — and not having an easy time at all. I’ve had pain in different areas — including pelvic floor, neck, sacrum, tailbone and leg. Currently , I am having a difficult time with groin pain — similar to the type I had before the surgery. A new hernia has been ruled out — and I’ve had all kinds of tests — including ultrasounds and MRIs which have all been fine — asides from a slight disc herniation in my back and neck.
Currently taking low dose elavil — as doctor thinks it is nerve pain from scar tissue — but it’s not helping too much yet.
The groin pain is very sharp at times — could it be a mesh issue? The surgeon checked me and said everything was good as far as the surgery. However , due to the pain it is difficult to have a normal day.
If anyone has had a similar experience and can offer some support and advice , it would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to here the problems you are experiencing, I too had inguinal hernia surgery I am nearly 8 yrs post op and have had nerve pain for the last 5 yrs the first couple of years were just uncomfortable then things changed drastically, I've had numerous test with no answer I've been told it's to risky to surgically remove the mesh implant, I've had cortisone injections which made things worse and had all kinds of painkillers with no success, it seems no medical professionals wants to help I'm currently under a pain management consultant and waiting for an appointment to discuss having a spinal cord stimulator fitted which to be honest I'm not to keen on, to me it's seems once the damage is done we just become statistics of failed surgery more like lab rats than human beings, have u seeked legal advise I have an on going litigation going on under the issue of informed consent, I wish I could help and advise you on a better prognosis but the truth is the prognosis isn't great. If you can find anything that could help our conditions please let me know.

Thanks for your reply. Have you had a doppler ultrasound which can directly see the mesh and where the problem is coming from? I’ve heard that can be helpful in narrowing down the treatment options. I’m so sorry that we are dealing with these issues and have been labeled as complainers — or worse.
