Cit withdrawal help ..

hi,

i was on 10mg of cit from august 2019, i had terrivle side effects for the first 6-8 weeks and finally settled. i stayed on 10mg throughout my pregnancy and when i gave birth in july 2020 the 10mg wasnt cutting it anymore and my dr had me go up to 20mg.. unfortunately i was never able to get myself back to normal with all my body changes after birth and as per my doctor started to taper down 5mg every 4 weeks from december until the end of feb (ish). i have now been off cit completely for 8 weeks and 3 days, the first 2 weeks were hell and then aeemed to get better, i then started 150 of wellbutrin XL which ive been on for 6 weeks and 3 days now and seem to finally be used to it. i have started to get tingles in my toes and finger tips, brain zaps, weakness in my right arm, stomach problems all over again.. ive read it can take months for the withdrawl to go away and sometimes surges at 8 weeks off.. anyone else with a similar experience? my doctor doesnt seem worried and says its not out of the norm since i was on cit for 18 months + , any reassurance would be great.. finally felt like i was getting back to normal and this starts :frowning:

hi im wondering if there is a possibility that the issues you are currently having might be related to the effexor, rather than the citalopram which you have been off of for a few months now

if you dont mind me asking, do you tend to drink much alcohol? one thing i found with myself in the past when taking effexor was, if i drank alcohol i would find myself getting the brain zaps you mention, so i actually ended up switching to a different medication in the end (just to mention, i dont drink heavily or even regularly, but did want to be able to have just the occasional bottle of beer some evenings)

join the facebook group “citalopram should be illegal”. Lots of people in there going through withdrawl and they are a huge help and support. Doctors no nothing about withdrawl from citalopram. hang in there!

i dont drink at all.. i dont think i was getting sufficient serotonin on wellbutrin, i am now back on cit as per my doctor
