Citalapram

Just wondering if citalapram will slow these negative thoughts down and stop me from worrying about every little thing ?

Thanks

How many mg and how long have you been on citalapram? Over time things will get better.

Just over 3 weeks

Hello Don, yes it will help, although it may make the negative thoughts a little worse to begin with. You need to give it 8 weeks to see much improvement. I know it is frustrating and how painful intrusive thoughts can be, but stuck with it and things will improve with time. Try to distract yourself with a good book, film or simple tasks or go out for some fresh air. The thoughts are due to your depression and do not reflect reality. Stay strong, good luck. Hugs x

Thanks for that I woke up to that message and it put a smile on my face 😃

Hi Don,

As above the initial side effects my cause your thoughts to escalate but always rem it's just a thought you have taken a major step in defeating depression by seeking help and this forum is great support! Eventually the thoughts will be a distant memory. I still have the odd time where they pop in and I get busy or have a nap!! Good luck in your recovery

14 months and continuing!!

Question: I have been on Citalopram for about 4 years but due to other health issues I have anxiety about taking the pill, so sadly, I can go months without taking it! Today I started taking it 20 mg after prob not taking it for 4 months. I am drowsy on and off all day! Is this normal?
