Citalopram 10 mg

My doctor prescribed me Chlordiazepoxide for my anxiety and stress/depression. I was fine taking it for the first couple of days but then started feeling very angry/agressive and not feeling any better. To put it bluntly, I felt like the Incredible Hulk. So I stopped taking them and went back to my doctor.

He has now prescribed me Citalopram 10mg. I took my first one last night. About two to three hours later I started feeling really sick. I was dizzy/woozy and my heart started racing really fast. I thought best to go to bed (9pm), but then also started feeling very nauseaous and had a bit of an upset stomach. I fell asleep okay but woke up at 3am. I tried to go back to sleep but was unable to and finally got up at 3:45am. I stayed awake until about 6:30 and went to sleep again for another hour.

When I awoke again at 7:30 I still felt sick inside, still had an upset stomach and felt very nauseaous.

I read the side effects and found that I am experiencing quite a few of the symptoms and am now scared to carry on taking the pills. I really don't want to feel this sick.

Don't know what I should do, any advise would be great.

If I carry on taking them is there nothing else I could take that might make the nauseaous feeling going away? I can try cope with the other side effects just not the nauseaousness.

Will these side effects also go away?

Hey! im on my 5th week in now. i felt absolutly terrible the 1st 2 weeks or so but trust me it will stop! im not yet feeling myself but that is due to my own complicated problems lol. seriously stick it out i felt exactly the same. ul b fine i promise maria x

When is the best time that I should take it, morning or evening (just before going to sleep) that will ease me in with the side effects?

have breakfast, no matter how small and then take, been on 20 mg for 2 months, exactly same as u at 1st, now feeling alot better

I just wonder how long it will take till the side effects pass. Does anyone know approx?

Cause the way I am feeling at the moment I am reluctant to carry on taking the Citalopram

Hi

I've been taking 20mg since 15th october 07, sorry can't be bothered to count the weeks. I take mine at breakfast and always after some food. I only have a handful of cornflakes or a piece of toast and this seems to help. I had very few side effects but that might be cos I stayed in bed for the first 2 weeks and slept most of the time.

Stick with it. Rest as much as you can and think sod the world cos you will take all the time you need to get better, If you had a broken leg you wouldn't be jumping up to do everything you used to.

yeah, been on these 3 days now and also getting same side effects..sick a bit dizzy and upset stomach and really forgetful too. Like apparently I let the cat in and the next minute I asked my family how he got in? They said, well, you just let him in. I couldnt understand when I had actually done that? Had a few other incidents in last two days too like that, very strange. I dont like feeling sick but at the same time anything that stops me from eating is a good thing as it needs some serious controlling and so this might actually help! But I am only on 10mg so far, this should increase at end of week, then maybe the sickness will be too much? I dont know? Will just have to grin and bear it.

hi nat 76. have you started on the 20mg yet, as i too am on 10mg to be upped to 20mg next few days.

wondered how you feel on the 20mg thats all. thanks aly
