Citalopram & Climax Issue

I was worried about what this would do to me at first after splitting up with my wife i was very down and didnt seem to be getting thru it very well so i went on 20mg tabs been on them about 7 weeks now after telling the doctor are there pills for a \"broken heart\". Well anyway I met a girl and it came to the \"time\" it was great no difference but later in the night we did it again i couldnt reach climax (ejaculate) no matter what, in the past twice in a night no problem sometimes 4 times, but now just once even trying again in the morning no result its like the \"recharge\" time has greatly increased and you know how exciting it is with a new new partner especially if she's gorgeous, but despite her best effects its a strictly 1 shot thing now. altho i would say my desire and drive are the same.

Anyone else have this experience

Dave

I am at week 5 now and I am experiencing the same as you. The desire went altogether for the first few weeks but it has returned (although not to the same extent before taking tablets). It definitely takes longer to climax (not that that's a bad thing sometimes) but twice, even in 24 hours just isn't happening. I guess this is one of the side effects that i will just have to live with because i feel so much better in other ways. I talked things through with my wife and she has been OK and understands that it's not her. Talk to your girlfriend or talk to your doctor if this is really something you are finding difficult to deal with.

Good luck!

From my experiences of being on citalopram, an ejaculation can be achieved through sheer will, and strength of your entire being.

In all seriousness, it takes a very long time, and concentration. I mean, there are links between SSRI's being used to prevent premature ejaculation suffers. Don't worry, it's perfectly normal, but probably not too beneficial for an sex life... on the plus side you could last for hours!

i have to say im so glad i found this site, after taking Citalopram for 6 days now, last night it became apparent that the climax issue is affecting me  i wondered what was up at first (pardon the pun) but seeing this forum and finding this issue it all makes sense now. lets hope my wife can cope lol :D
