Hi there, started on 20mg of citalopram this due to depression 5 days ago and am having side effects, struggling to sleep (even more than i usually do) and other symptoms.
The one I'm most bothered about is my sense of taste; anyone else here had problems with this, will this fade while i am taking them?

welcome to the world of citalopram
you need to allow a minimum of 2 weeks to get into your body and for side effects to go away, sometimes it takes longer it depends on the individual
Citalopram can take upto 8 weeks before it starts working its magic
My advise it that if you and your gp has decided that this medication is the best option for you then give it a bit longer to get into your system, if after approx 2 weeks your still having side effects you cant cope with go back to your gp

Yeah I agree it took me 4 weeks to be settled on it good luck
despite the side effects you will start to feel better on these. you have to stick with them, 2 weeks minimum for them to kick in, and for the side effects to start residing, 4 - 6 for full effect. they helped me greatly last year when we moved so stick with them. we have all been there, but they will start to make you feel like your old self.
