Citalopram - boyfriend with zero sex drive

hello all,

i have been with my bf for 6 months and he has been on Citalopram for the whole time; he was getting divorced when i met him and taking the medication to help with depression.

he is lovely in every way and insists he wants to be with me, but i am going crazy with insecurity as sex life is close to nil. He insists he finds me attractive but due to medication his sex drive is almost zero and he finds it vefry hard to perform/climax and his sensations are all numbed. All he seems to want is sleep sad I fancy him lots and i find myself going to the toilet to cry when he's fallen asleep as I cant believe a medication can make someone so low on sex drive. I am convinced he doesnt fancy me as much as his ex wife and the medication is an excuse - he says thats absoklutely not true and to be patient, but im so depressed and insecure sad help please xxx

Hi believe him - it is a nasty side-effect of the medication. My husband has been on it for 7 years now and he still has no sex drive and feels numb. On the plus side it does make you more inventive trying to find ways of keeping arousal wink If it is a real problem for you then you need to get him to talk to his GP about other medication without these side-effects.

Good Luck and remember you're not alone - I personally know of three other couples this is happening to xx

It's true, it's a well known effect, it knackers a blokes 'little fella' neutral

It is true like HOUSE suggests ask him to speak to his G.P.
