Been off citalopram for 10 days now, certainly not planned (domestic argument!) so I just left them behind. Ive had my chance to pick them up, but I feel that would be just going backwards. Though I feel very fagile, there must be some light here!
Have you been on any other antidepressants? If you can deal with your problem before taking a pill. The problem is still there with or without a pill.
As long as you taper very, very gradually there shouldn't be a problem coming off
Don't know, should have taken advice...feeling very odd!
Did you just stop taking them suddenly? How long had you been taking Cit and at what dose? These are very powerful drugs and should never be stopped cold turkey. If you have done this you could be asking for terribly severe withdrawal symptoms which don't always present themselves straight away. If you have cold turkeyed my advice would be to go back on them straight away and then taper off them very slowly only up to 10% of dose as each month passes.
I am talking from a devastating experience coming off these drugs too quickly,
Beverley, my experience of sudden cold turkey has been 'devistaiting' and as of today I went back on 20mg. I think the end was coming up fast.......
You have done the right thing. Hopefully you will feel some benefit very soon. Were you taking 20mgs before CT?
I was on 30mgs, as I've said, one argument, followed by a sudden desire to 'be off' anti depressents was a very, very foolish idea! 2 weeks into withdrawl...I was seriously considering ending it all. So yesterday, enough was enough....I hope 20mgs will suffice for now. My advice is this, don't suddenly stop.....madness!
Good luck then Pat. Hope the 20mgs does the trick and you feel better soon.
Thanks..
True, true..
