Citalopram/Celexa Problem

I've been having a problem for a few months and i'm wondering if it's my medication.

I've been on and off citalopram for years and in recent years started self medicating (yes i'm an idiot) and also gone long stretches of not taking anything. i told the doctor and started all over again with 10mg for a months and then upped to 20mg 9 weeks ago. My depression and anxiety has generally been better but i'm having a major problem relaxing to watch tv & films and it's been going on for nearly 3 months or so.

There have been times where i've managed to relax and watch but a lot of times my head keeps checking to see if i'm "into it" over and over and just can't relax and watch.

I've been told side effects only last a few weeks, i can relax during the day but just can't stop the checking when trying to watch.

Is it possible it's the medication? or is it all in my mind and i just have to work through it? i'm worried the years of messing with medication might have messed my brain up or it's taking the effects longer to kick in

Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like anxiety...anxious, racing thoughts, trouble concentrating. Maybe your medication is not working well enough.

Agree with 3 mimibrenda, sounds like anxiety, it jumps in and tells your mind to keep checking things or obsess over things . Or it could be your meds but you need to ask doctors advice, may say persevere, or.change them, if you describe the feelings you are having they should know what to do. It is horrible when we get random worrying thoughts or sereal feelings, hope you get some help and reasurance❤️

Hello there

You are not able to relax due to anxiety. Moreover, I think your mind may be relating watching tv with feeling of uneasiness and restlessness.

Talk with your Doctor and try to get your medicines reviewed if those are not working well.

Take care

A big thank you for taking the time to reply it's much appreciated

I guess it's time to talk with the doctor again
