Hello,
I have been on Citalopram 10mg for 12 days and then went back to the doctors and was put up to 20mg which I have been on for 10 days.
It seems like much longer then three weeks and I have had a lot of ups and downs.
For the last three days I have felt very strange, I feel empty and emotionless. I will catch myself staring into space and dont know how long I have been doing it for and could do it all day! On the other hand I am twitchy and tapping my foot alot. Also for the pass week all I have wanted to do is eat junk food which is unlike me as I have had a healthy diet for the past two years.
Also I wake up all sweaty, although most nights I have no problems sleeping. I take my tablet in the morning but I am not sure if it would make much difference what time I took it anyway.
Should I just soldier on and get through the crazy feelings to get to the other side? is this normal? i have a doctors appt on monday so will see what she says.
I am starting to question whether I feel better or worse on these tablets, I dont feel as teary but then I feel strange like im going crazy.
Any suggestions?
I have been on Citalopram for 1 week. I am suffering some terrible side effects. My appetite has gone, feel sick, and have night sweats. Bear with them. I have been on Cit before and they do ease off but its hard going when your going through it.
I too get spaced out and stare into space, sometimes I could sit for ages.
When Cit worked for me previously it did help me a lot though. Just hope it works again this time round.
Good luck.
kk
My doctor gave me those tablets, and after reading the side effects I was too scared to take them. Then another doctor gave me Prozac which I was on for 1 week and probably felt like you do now. Everytime I spoke to a doctor they told me to keep taking them. I made the decision to take myself off them.
Recently having noticed my anxiety is worse about 12 days leading up to my period I saw the doctor again and she gave me Sertraline (Lustral). Side effects are milder and not so many off them. I have been on them 10 days and I feel fine.
I asked a medical professional yesterday about the difference and he said Lustral is more expensive and has been more defined. Thats why they arent bad with side effects. Perhaps you should ask the doctor about switching to these.
Do you find your anxiety is worse when you are near your period?
Hello,
Yes I do feel worse leading up to my period - I would say about the same as you 12 days. Yesterday I felt quite normal and the same today but my period is due in the next few days - I find that once I get to about a few days before and during my period i feel normal, its just the week build up towards it.
Thank you for that info, i will ask my doc and see what she says!
Have you ever thought-Maybe its not anti depressants we ned but some form of Hrt. My anxiety is bad before my persion. In fact i reckon I have 1 week a month of feeling perhaps normal
Thats how I feel too, I have been looking into the HRT today because the Lustral is given me sexual dysfunction and I cant live with that. Even though they seem to suit me otherwise.
I am also considering a hysterectomy, as I am 30, married had 3 children. My husband had the snip so its pointless me even having a period.
At dr's in 15 mins, Im going to ask about it, I'll tell you what the outcome is.
