I have been on cit 20mg for 9 months and in therapy. Recently anxiety and depression returned so my doc upped my dosage to 30mg. On day 18 of new dosage. Anxiety is worse especially in the morning. Can't leave the house. Can't eat and anything I do eat means a trip to the bathroom !! Really strange dreams. Does it get better ? I'm at my wits end.

I'm 3 weeks into Citalopram -started on 20 and had to have it decreased as my anxiety levels shot through the roof too- and it was always in the morning! Had same symptoms u are describing along with a few others - the sickness has now stopped and my appetite has returned - just hang in there, the symptoms will eventually get better once you're adjusted to the new dose. I heard this can take up to 6 weeks to settle down so you've got past the worst of it by now hopefully
It feels never ending and I still don't feel myself but can gradually see an improvement - here if you ever want to chat.

My GP said will take at least a month to work at each dosage level and for the anxiety side effect to lift. She said if no better 5 to 6 weeks after dosage change to see her

it takes a while for your body to adjust so do hang in there and don't despair. Give each new dosage about 4-6 weeks to see results. When it does kick in you will not believe how different you will feel - no more tight knot in your stomach and you will start to enjoy life again! Don't give up.
Hi Mia. When I first started on cit a year ago I had no side effects at all and my depression and anxiety lifted within about two weeks. The depression and anxiety came back just over two weeks ago for absolutely no reason at all (probably winter blues) so my dosage was upped, I have just slept for four consecutive nights for the first time in 17 days but my appetite is still non existant. For me the mornings are the worse as well. I feel shaky and want to hide away from people but for me that's not possible. I take heart from all the people on these forums that say "it will work give it time". It worked for me once so I am hoping it does the same again but please very very soon.
